  15. Solar activity is extremely low.  On six of the past seven days
  16. there were no visible sunspots, and every day the solar flux was
  17. below the average flux number for the previous 90 days.  As we are
  18. near the bottom of the solar cycle, don't expect much change.  For
  19. the next year we should see many more periods with no sunspots.

  21. For the next few weeks there should be little activity, except for
  22. a possible coronal hole causing geomagnetic disturbances a few days
  23. from now.

  25. Sunspot Numbers for January 11 through 17 were 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 and
  26. 11, with a mean of 1.6.  10.7 cm flux was 71.5, 69.5, 69, 69.7,
  27. 70.2, 69.9 and 70.4, with a mean of 70.

  29. This week we have a path projection to Guatemala from Eugene,
  30. Oregon, New Orleans, Louisiana and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

  32. >From Eugene 80 meters should be open from 0030z to 1330z, 40 meters
  33. from 2230z to 1330z, 30 meters from 1630z to 0100z, 20 meters from
  34. 1600z to 2300z, and 17 meters from 1900z to 2130z.

  36. >From New Orleans check 80 meters from 2200z to 1430z.  40 meters
  37. should be open around the clock, with the best period from 0000z to
  38. 0200z and again from 0400 to 0500z and the worst from 1700z to
  39. 1900z.  30 meters should be good from 1330z to 0000z and 20 meters
  40. from 1500z to 2200z.  17 meters should be open most days from 1700z
  41. to 2000z.

  43. >From Pittsburgh 80 meters should be open from 2230z to 1300z and 40
  44. meters around the clock, with the strongest signals from 0030z to
  45. 1130z.  30 meters looks good from 0800z to 0430z, 20 meters from
  46. 1400z to 1900z and 2130z to 2300z, and 17 meters from 1500z to
  47. 2100z.  15 meters looks good from 1600z to 2000z.
